A chook????

I'm afraid we seem to have someone here with a bit of an identity crisis. DD left the chooks' gate open so they can roam the horse paddock. Jetset seems to have decided she wants to be a chook. Anyone would think she had no food - she is in there picking up the tiniest bits of hay. Don't worry about the huge bale of her own - obviously that doesn't taste as good!!

Meanwhile, Angas the duck (actually we are pretty sure he's a drake) has decided he does not want to live with the chooks, he wants to stay under the back pergola as close to us as possible. No matter how many times we put him where we think he belongs, back he comes. Over the 6' fence, across the horse paddock, and over the garden fence. Calico the cat is less than impressed - he follows her everywhere she goes when she is outside. Maybe he thinks he's a cat?

I wanted to pop in and say thank you for joining the Totally Useless SAL. I hope you have lots and lots of fun with it. But you've got me wondering now...what is a "chook"? Not a word we use here in the States for any animal I know.

lololol, otherwise known as a chicken.

The Totally Useless SAL was irresistable!!

Ok, now that I feel really really dumb, I might as well ask what does Wahroonga mean? It sounds nice, is it a person, place or thing?

Wahroonga is the name of property - an aboriginal word meaning 'our home'. The house was built in 1849 and has quite a history to it, being the original post office for the area for a number of years. We have no idea who named it or when though.
